The program STEP is a small but significant step towards more positive parenting. STEP is a clear and natural program which helps parents confused in a variety of parenting methods.
I feel happy that I had a possibility to participate in the STEP project. I realised that STEP gives a lot for parents who need changes and who are ready for dealing with self issues.

Did you find some time in the past your communication with the child miscellaneous and complex in different situations? Did you notice that one day you could understand your child‘s feelings, thoughts, attitudes perfectly and the other day – not ?
I doubt if we could avoid the diversity of our experience when communicating with children. It‘s possibly the essential issue for sincere, open and committed relationship between parents and children. However, it‘s so nice to see child‘s personality growing with the help of perfect relationship with parents. So the conclusion can be drawn: the more simple communication is, the better it is.
„Difficulties look more simple now“ – these are the words of the mother who participated in the STEP program in 2011 spring. I believe that the parenting skills which were thought in STEP parenting classes supported her better understanding of self and child’s behavior and feelings. I also believe that starting with this spring her communication with the child will be more intimate followed by more effective parenting methods.
I have the same wishes for other participants of STEP parenting groups. In 2011 May even more parents than in 2010 December completed the STEP program in Kaunas‘ and Vilnius‘ cities. Though parents had original experience related to this program and finished the groups with different personal motivation for further endeavours for strenghtening their effective parenting skills, I sincerely believe that STEP groups at least gave them a chance to find out more about effective communication with the child, to share their experience related to parenting and encouraged their sense of belonging to other parents.
To be honest, I am proud of parents who completed the STEP program despite of intensive everyday life‘s activities. I feel grateful for your participation as well as suggestions for adapting the STEP program for Lithuanian parents.
I feel particularly grateful for the team of STEP leaders for their commitment and resolution in organizing the STEP groups.
I wish you a nice summer. See you in autumn-

We are happy to announce to you that we have finished with the first STEP parenting groups in Lithuania. Some parents were glad to have free family evenings at home again. Some of them felt sad about the end of group activities and didn‘t want to loose a chance to socialize with other parents. So they decided to go on with meetings where they could share with each other their difficulties and where they could go through the pages of Handbook for Parents again together.
Fifty-seven parents finished the first STEP parenting groups in Kaunas‘ and Kupiskis‘ cities. We believe that their new knowledge and skills will help communicate, encourage and use more respectful methods of child management in the home with their children. We believe that STEP parenting groups made their journey to the land of “The best parent in the world” easier and quicker.
We are grateful for every participant for his/ her comments and suggestions for adapting the STEP program for Lithuanian parents.
I am extremely grateful for the STEP leaders Alma, Ingrida, Justina, Lolita, Nomeda and Vaida – for their contribution, commitment, kindness and creativity in conducting the first Systematic Training for Effective Parenting groups in Lithuania.
I am also grateful for the Adlerian Society of Lithuania for their support prior to the beginning of this new parenting project in our country.
I wish you quiet, enjoyable and full with faith Christmas.
See you in STEP groups in early spring -

What is STEP?
STEP is a systematic parenting program related to understanding behavior of children and ways to encourage them as well as parenting tools to help parents feel more confident in raising responsible and psychologically healthy children.
What is the value of STEP and this website?
This website was created to enhance the personal growth of parents and children.
It was created for a mom or dad who care about their family and who are eager to create more effective relationships with their child/ children.
And finally, the website was created for individuals who wish to increase their knowledge base related to the STEP program.
Is this program for you? Please respond „yes“ or „no“ to the following sample of questions about parenting issues.
- Would you like to relate to your child/children more effectively?
- Is it important to you to have a better understanding of the behavior, thoughts and feelings of your child/children?
- Would you like to discover new possibilities or alternative ways of communicating and solving problems with your child/ children?
- Could you benefit from sharing your experiences related to parenting as well as hearing ways other parents deal with their child/children?
- Finally, would you like to increase your self-confidence related to parenting your child/children ?
If you answered “yes“ to one or several of these questions, the STEP program is for you!
The content in the website will provide you with more details related to the first systematic parenting program available in Lithuania.
Continue to review this website for parenting groups that will be available in your area or contact the coordinator of STEP programs for more information.
